Percussion Director
I graduated from Canyon High School in 2016 and went on to study music education at West Texas A&M University. During my time there, I was regularly involved with the university’s percussion ensemble, jazz band, and drumline. Additionally, I was a percussionist in the Symphonic Band for four years, with whom I toured to perform at the CBDNA National Conference in 2017 and the TMEA Convention in 2020. I was also selected to perform a concerto as a soloist with the WTAMU Symphonic Band in 2019 and represented the university’s percussion studio by performing my original vibraphone composition on the Honors Recital the same year.
I received my Bachelor of Music Education with Full Level Certification from West Texas A&M University in 2021.
I am currently a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and the Percussive Arts Society. Additionally, I performed on tour with the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps in 2018 as a member of the front ensemble.
I started with North Lamar ISD in the 2021-2022 school year. I currently serve as the percussion director for the high school and middle school.
My professional background includes serving as a part-time percussion technician and lesson teacher for four and a half years. I started my teaching journey in 2016 at Caprock High School in Amarillo, Texas, where I served as an instructor and arranger for the front ensemble during the fall. In 2017, I began my role as a percussion tech at Canyon High School in Canyon, Texas, where I stayed until December 2020. My marching band responsibilities in that position included rehearsing the front ensemble and battery, percussion arrangement and sound design, and all aspects of audio systems management. The following semester in January 2021, I student taught at Ryan High School and Myers Middle School in Denton, Texas.
My parents, a long-time band director and an accomplished piano teacher/color guard instructor, live in the metroplex and have mentored me to grow as a musician and a teacher. My younger sister Erin is majoring in policy studies at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. I have no pets, but I vicariously enjoy my parents’ miniature dachsund, Harvey.
