  • National Wind Band Honors National Winner from Mark of Excellence 10 consecutive times – 2010 to present

 

  • Citation of Excellence Winner from Mark of Excellence 2016, Commended winner 2017 – for non-varsity band

​

  • The North Lamar High School Band has always participated in the 5A/6A All-State band process.  It is one of only a few schools in class 4A in Texas that chooses to compete up in classification.  We have had 19 students that have made the Texas Music Educators All State Band or Orchestra (class 5A or higher)

 

  • In the fall, the Marching Band chooses to participate in the DFW Metro-plex marching competitions, competing mainly against 5A and 6A schools. It has done this for many years, earning many class and caption awards over the past 25 years. Mesquite Memorial Marching Contest, Little Elm Classic on the Lake, Golden Triangle in Denton, and US Bands in Denton

 

2020-2021

  • Sounds of Fall – Princeton, TX 11/7/2020 – 1st in the music performance category, 2nd in the marching category, 4th in percussion and 2nd in color guard.  2nd place in class 4A of the contest and 3rd place overall,
  • Celina Invitational Marching Contest – Celina, TX 11/14/2020 – 1st place in the music category, 2nd place in marching , 3rd place in percussion, and 6th in color guard.  The NLHS band was awarded first place in class 4A for the contest and grand champion of the entire contest.  
  • UIL Regional Marching Contest – Sulphur Springs HS – All Superior Ratings – 11/17/2020

2019-2020

  • 2nd place Princeton Sounds of Fall Championship – 1st place Color Guard; 2nd place 4A
  • Mineola Marching Festival – Grand Champion, 1st place class 4A, 1st place color guard, 1st place percussion; 1st division Drum Major; 1st division band
  • UIL Regional Marching Contest – All Superior Ratings

 

2018-2019

  • Selected TMEA 4A State Honor Band – best Concert Band in class 4A state of Texas
  • Grand Champion – Princeton Sounds of Fall Championships – 1st place in Music and Marching prelims and finals
  • UIL Regional Marching Contest – All Superior Ratings
  • 1st Place Area C UIL Marching Contest
  • 3rd place - Bronze Medalist at the UIL State Marching Contest

  • 2nd in class HEB Drum Line Contest – outstanding snare and tenors
  • 2nd in class Plano Drum Line Contest – outstanding bass line
  • 3rd overall - Little Elm Classic on the Lake Marching Contest; 1st place Color Guard; 2nd place Drum Line
  • Grand Champion – Princeton Sounds of Fall Championships – 1st place in every category prelims and finals; 9 bands there that were UIL State finalist - 32 bands participating
  • UIL Regional Marching Contest – All Superior Ratings
  • 8 students made the Class 5A/6A Region 4 & 21 All Region Orchestra – 2 regions combine for 1 orchestra
  • 52 students in region 4 class 5A All-Region High School Bands out of 138 spots available; 22 students qualified for 6A Area; 18 students qualified for 5A Area; 1 students made TMEA 5A All State Band; 1 Student made TMEA 6A All State Orchestra
  • 42 students earned Superior ratings on Class 1 solos at UIL; 55 students earned Superior ratings on Class 1 ensembles at UIL
  • 4th of July, Veterans Day Program and Memorial Day Programs for community
  • Christmas and Spring Concerts for community
