Pumpkinology contest depicts medical terms

Paris, Texas, October 19, 2020 – North Lamar High School’s Medical Terminology students hosted their first annual ‘Pumkinology’ Contest. 

Kenda Waldroup instructed her students to use medical terms they have learned this semester to create a diagnosis for their pumpkins. The students had to research their diagnosis and write a brief paper to go with their pumpkin.  The pumpkins were then put on display in the library for students and staff to cast their votes.

Category winners were Chisteny Snead for Best Overall with ‘Diagnosis of Hydrocephalus’, Claire Jackson for Most Creative with ‘Diagnosis of Maniac’, Lexi Clark also for Most Creative with ‘Diagnosis of Toxic Encephalopathy’, Meredith Puckett for Best Research/Presentation with ‘Diagnosis of the Rapidly Growing Cephaloma’ and Corbin Waldroup for Most Disgusting with ‘Diagnosis of Hematemesis’.
